Insurance as a Career

If you have arrived at this site from the PMReview exam preparation program I wrote, you are already interested in a career in insurance. I have buckets of experience in this area, and will enjoy giving you something to think about to get you off in the right direction. It's the question I have been asked for the last 35 years from students in my classes and on the PMReview who are preparing for their new career and not knowing which company or products to consider.

With your new insurance license, there are so many avenues from which to choose. How do you know which way to go? Is it possible to find a company that has enough variations in products that you can then specialize in one, then two, then more?

With 30+ years in the insurance field in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and throughout the US on PMReview, I am going to make a suggestion to you that I wish I would have known in the beginning. I suggest that you connect with a national company that doesn't charge you a signup fee to join them. Too many companies and agencies see you as a revenue source before you even get going. The one I'm going to suggest sees you as an asset, not as a monthly income on their books.

After years of observing, the company I like best is Transamerica. You know that famous landmark in San Francisco? That's Transamerica. Now, so you don't misunderstand, I wanted to be connected with a company where I can keep my license on the Florida books, and be able to sell a product to a friend, or to myself if I later want to. Therefore, I chose the company I like best. Recently in 2022, Forbes Advisor rated the 11 best Term Life insurance companies. Seven were a 4.0, three were a 4.5, and the only 5.0 was Transamerica.

What I like about the Transamerica Agency Network is that they don't ding you financially when you join their company, and they don't get a monthly fee from you, either. You can join with them, and choose from a surprisingly large number of different partner company products in various areas of the insurance field, thereby selecting the kinds of products you would like to represent, and the clientele you would like to serve. They are on the cutting edge of technology... they are building a high-quality, highly-successful team virtually on Zoom, as well as the option of being in person with your clients.

This is a bit like being an independent agent with the foundation of a strong company behind you.

Why Zoom:

The times have changed. The way of doing business has changed. Clients' expectations have changed. Physical travel is not the only method of meeting with your clients. Virtual travel is in!
